Chichester

Figures relating to problem and dependent drinking  in Chichester were last published in 2018 and relate, only, to West Sussex, as a whole. These figures showed that there were between 5,500 and 9,500 residents within the catchment area of West Sussex that were in  need of treatment for alcohol dependency.

Alcohol deaths in West Sussex contribute to 5% of the national figures which is disproportionate to the rest of the UK and is a worrying statistic.

The figures indicate a concerning level of hospital admissions for alcohol related problems. 2018 saw an increase from 500 to 585 per 100.000 and this was more acute across coastal areas. For illicit drug use, there were between 1,200 and 3,200 using either opioids or crack cocaine or a combination of the two.

For fee paying clients, residential treatment is available in West Sussex. Cost wise, it is most cost effective to travel slightly further afield as there are significant savings to be made. Outpatient services are also available.
