Isle of Man

Information on the rates of drug and alcohol use on the Isle of Man is both scant. The last set of official figures were published in 2017 by the Isle of Man government.  At the time the report stated that there was no available data so as to profile adults across the Isle.   The report did, however, garner information from the voluntary sector which showed that more men than women were in treatment for addiction. Furthermore, that the main age group seeking treatment were 25-39 years of age.

An analysis of postcode data revealed that those in postcodes IM1 and IM2 were over represented in terms of clinic referrals. However, these figures do not identify as to whether these clients had higher incidents of use than other areas or were more likely to be referred. Data from the IOM Constabulary and prison service suggest that those involved in the criminal justice service (including those who don't receive prison  sentences are more likely to be using illicit drugs.

The IOM constabulary state that over 50% of all arrests are alcohol related and figures from the IOM Prison Service show that 74% of adults entering prison test positive for at least one drug.

For private/fee paying patients treatment centers can easily be accessed from the Isle of Man on the mainland (UK). Unfortunately, the Isle of Man does not have it's own. Both low cost and high end centers can be arranged with collection from the port of arrival. Where necessary, someone can escort a client from their home address to and from  a centre (at additional cost.)

Paul can advise on treatment options, locations, availability and cost.
