National Drug Treatment  Monitoring Service (NDTMS) figures from 2018-2019 show that Leicester had  total of 992 new clients coming forward seeking help with drug and alcohol dependence/addiction. These figures contain 15% (153) being adults whose children live at home.  During this time there were 1,434 adults (over 18's) engaged in drug/alcohol treatment within the county. Over 80% were being treated for opioid dependency. This is significantly higher than the average for England which, at the time, stood at 66%. 

 

It is estimated that up to 50% of opioid users in Leicester are not in treatment.
