​Data from Health Survey for England indicates that 27.4% of adults in Staffordshire drink more than 14 units of alcohol a day which is higher than the average for England at 22.8%. This upturn is also reflected in a higher than national average for binge drinking in the county at 22.4% (Average for England is 15.4%). 

During 2019-2020 Staffordshire had a total of 1,165 adults , over the age of 18, seeking treatment for the first time for drug and alcohol dependence. 

While there are no recent figures regarding numbers in treatment, the last set, published by the council in 2017, state that there were 3,850 adults reliant on opioids and/or crack cocaine.  Updated figures for 2020-2021 show that there were 1,550 opioid users and 200 non-opioid users in treatment. 50% of adults completed treatment.
